Boston Bruins vs. New York Islanders Prediction
This line is a gift to us in my opinion. I know you are all aware I am a totals guy. To put it simply, I think there are more ways in which this game goes over tonight than under, it's that simple. Getting the line not only at 5.5 but also at a good price is something I will bite on every time. Obviously, the line is set here for a reason. Boston is one of the best defensive teams in hockey, Linus Ullmark has been exceptional this season once again, and Iyla Sorokin is more than just solid between the pipes. Now that we have that out of the way, let's talk about why I love it.
The Islanders are one of the best teams for first period scoring in the league, and if we can get 1-2 in the first here tonight, I do not see them stopping. The Islanders are on fire right now, averaging 4.5 goals per game in the month of December, and the over has been cashing at higher lines than this one. I expect them to keep bringing the heat tonight knowing they are the underdogs (the over is 12-3 when they are underdogs this season), to a mean Bruins team that has won five straight over them. Isles are still down a few of their top defensemen on the backend, so New York needs to score to stay in this. The over has hit in four of the last five head to head matchups.
