St. Louis Blues vs. Vancouver Canucks Prediction
Vancouver should have no issues scoring tonight. Since the Christmas break, St. Louis has been pretty awful defensively by a lot of metrics, productive offense and Jordan Binnington between the pipes has saved them a bit. Tonight, Joel Hofer should get the nod as this is a back-to-back and Binnington went last night in Calgary; I like Hofer and he has played very well at times this season but has given up 3+ goals in three straight losses. Vancouver is not easy test for the young net minder and if the guys in front of him are losing a step to the Canucks on the second day of this back-to-back, it could get ugly for the Notes.
With that said, I love the way this new core for the Blues is finding an identity and reinvigorating the old style of Blues hockey. In the two years following the Stanley Cup win with that roster, they were able to play a different style of game that ultimately got them waxed all season last year. They are playing much better with the guys they have, the young forwards like Kyrou, Buch, Neighbours and Thomas have really stepped up and are playing awesome hockey. I know the second day of a back-to-back is rough, especially. traveling, but they are playing well and fresh off a big win so I expect some solid play here.
