Form in their respective Guineas is represented by Tip Two Win, Romanised and WOOTTON (NAP). The former won’t start 50/1 today after finding only Saxon Warrior too good at Newmarket last month and should go well again but Romanised is preferred on his victory in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh. Kevin Condon’s colt beat the re-opposing Ballydoyle trio U S Navy Flag, Gustav Klimt and Threeandfourpence on fast ground and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t confirm running today. Wootton did himself no favours in the French 2000 Guineas when refusing to settle but still finished a creditable fourth to Olmedo. He’ll go very close if proving more amenable as the Godolphin colt had earlier beaten Olmedo at Longchamp in a Guineas trial. The unbeaten Without Parole takes a further step up in class after getting the better of Gabr in a Listed race at Sandown. It will be no surprise if the Gosden colt proves up to this level and he’s another to consider but stablemate Kings Shield looks to have a bit to find as does Chilean.
Tip Two Win was an impressive second at lofty odds in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket last month and would probably be a relatively short price here if trained by a more powerful stable, while Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Romanised represents a handler who hasn't had too many winners in 2018 but deserves respect on that form all the same. U S Navy Flag was ridden prominently that day and failed to hold on, with similar tactics likely to be utilised here by the Ballydoyle team. Wootton didn't look an easy ride in France last time, while Gabr looks held on form behind WITHOUT PAROLE based on their Sandown exertions 26 days ago. The latter remains unbeaten and wasn't suited by the rain-sodden ground on that day, but connections reported that he was behind on his work before that outing and this sort of test on quick ground is likely to suit the son of Frankel much better.
Prediction: 1st Without Parole, 2nd Gabr, 3rd Romanised
