The Noel Meade-trained gelding ran a big race on his penultimate outing when collared late on by Smallcraftwarning at Gowran. He is now 3lb better off with that rival, who returns to hurdles after a fall over fences at Punchestown. John Ryan's charge was a bit out of his league in Grade 3 company, but is entitled to be a big player again. Hopeful Hero won here at the start of last month before being outclassed in a Grade 2 at Chepstow eight days later. He's respected back in handicap company.
