It has been very convincing so far for the home side, who are battering Pakistan from pillar to post. The tourists seem to be lacking an ability to take the game away from England with the bat as Wood, Woakes, Plunkett and Rashid are showing good control.
Pakistan are only above Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland in the ODI rankings, which is truly reflective in the performances so far. To go as far as saying it’s men against boys out there would be unfair as Sarfraz Ahmed showed there is quality amongst the tourists, but the gulf in class is becoming more and more apparent. I expect England to win this next one with relative ease, taking the series in the process.
Several England batsmen are enjoying themselves at the moment, even the England skipper who looks like he has finally found some form. When he’s in nick, he is a world class operator as good as anybody. Eoin Morgan is my pick to top score for England at 6/1. Alex Hales is also due a score and returns to Trent Bridge where his county side Nottinghamshire play. He’s a slightly shorter price than Morgan at 4/1, but well worth considering with a small punt.
