Saint-Etienne vs Nice – Sunday 19:45, BT Sport Europe

Nice lost their first game of the season in a shock defeat to SM Caen before the international break. They do however, still hold a three point lead at the top of Ligue 1 and now face a trip to St. Etienne who have lost just twice this term but haven’t won many either; in fact they’ve drawn half of their games to date and find themselves ninth in the standings. With this in mind they look a little short to us at 2.24, given their respective positions in the table.

The hosts are a notoriously tough side to break down, as only PSG and Nice have conceded fewer this season and as a result nine of their last 10 have had no more than two strikes, while eight have been level at the break. At home they remain unbeaten (W3-D3) despite three top-eight sides making the visit.

Nice’s away record so far reads W3-D1-L1 but they’ve only travelled to bottom-half cubs and only one of their victories was by more than one goal. Mercurial striker Mario Balotelli, is suspended making the Cote d’Azur side’s task a little more challenging. The hosts will also be without their top-scorer, Robert Beric, so we wouldn’t put anyone off backing ‘unders’. However, a point would be a decent results for both sides and considering St. Etienne have been level at the break in 27 of their last 36 top-flight matches, we’ll back the Draw/Draw HT/FT.
