Andy Holding looks to follow up his winning 2pt NAP from yesterday.
GIVING GLANCES (best price 2-1) had the misfortune to bump into an extremely well-handicapped filly in the shape of Maid Up at Doncaster last time out, but the way she travelled through the race and made the well-backed favourite fight tooth and nail all the way to the line, indicates she, too, could be leniently treated.
A creditable fourth on her opening bow at Chepstow, Alan King’s filly clearly benefitted from that initial outing as she stayed on very strongly off the back of strong fractions, and with the pair pulling well clear of another well-fancied horse in the shape of Fresh terms, and the fifth home winning subsequently, there’s plenty of obvious reasons why the scopey daughter of Passing Glance receives the big thumbs up.
Nessum Dorma would just about be the pick of these over hurdles, but AWAYINTHEWEST (best price 8-1) wouldn’t be too far behind in term of ratings and ability and following a breakthrough success in a competitive handicap at Ballinrobe last time out, Pat Fahy’s mare has set herself up nicely for a decent shot at this race back on the Flat.
Having hit the crossbar on numerous occasions previously, including a gallant third in a listed hurdle at the Punchestown Festival back in April, it was good to see the daughter of Getaway gain her just rewards 17 days ago and with the time figure she posted decent and the level of opposition that evening useful, there’s no reason why she won’t be capable of outrunning her odds while in the rudest of health.
