13:35 Epsom

This is a fine opportunity for Harry Eustace’s DOCKLANDS (best price 2/1) to get back on the scoresheet.

His runner-up effort to Charyn in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last season is the best on offer and his seasonal reappearance second should have put him spot on for this assignment.

He is the class horse in the field and his trainer is in good form, so he’s fancied to provide Derby-winning rider Richard Kingscote with a welcome winner.

15:30 Epsom

In the feature race of the day, the Epsom Derby, PRIDE OF ARRAS (best price 5/1) is fancied to run a huge race for the Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan combination.

He displayed a sharp turn of foot to win the Dante last time out, where he was allowed to be eased down late on, and that was one of the best trial performances this season.

I know he could have been drawn better than 16, but Rossa will be alert to the task ahead, and I think this horse will be seen to better effect over this longer distance.

Rossa has also chosen him over stablemate Stanford Hope, who looked unlucky not to beat Delacroix last season, so that could be an incline as well.

Dante winners have an outstanding recent record in this race I really like his chances, so he’s the standout each-way option in what should be a cracking renewal.
