2022 MLB Farm System Rankings: Ranking Every Team's Farm System After the Draft

Every MLB team just improved their farm system with the 2022 MLB Draft.

Now it's time to rank farm systems adding their 2022 draft picks, assuming most end up signing on the dotted line.

1. Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles already had the best farm system coming into the MLB Draft with the first overall selection.

Then they added Jackson Holliday with the first pick in the MLB Draft. With Grayson Rodriguez, Gunner Henderson, Colton Cowser, and D.L. Hall, the Orioles are legit.

2. Arizona Diamondbacks

Arizona has five players in the Prospect Top 100 via FanGraphs and just added Druw Jones to the mix. I also thought their draft went really well, between the additions of Landon Sims, Ivan Melendez, and Nate Savino.

They'll take that two spot.

3. Tampa Bay Rays

Luckily for the Rays, Shane Baz is still considered a prospect. They've also got five other players in the FanGraphs Top 100 list and usually always have a ton of depth.

4. Pittsburgh Pirates

At this time, Oneil Cruz is still considered a prospect. So the Pirates are looking good in that department with Hendry Davis right behind him. Oh, and the Pirates added Termarr Johnson with their first selection along with so many highly regarded prospects in this year's draft.

The Pirates are in a good place.

5. Miami Marlins

The Marlins went heavy with pitching in the draft. They're always going to be pitcher-heavy. They've got three pitchers in the Top 100 on FanGraphs and have five players total in that group. Jacob Berry could be added to that Top 100 list very soon with his raw power.

6. Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians really boosted their farm system with Chase DeLauter, Justin Campbell, and Parker Messick.

They've currently got six players in the Top 100 and Nolan Jones is currently in the MLB. We're going to start to see some of their prospects by next year.

7. New York Yankees

The New York Yankees have a load of talent on the Top 100 list with five players ranked 64 or better on the list. Now they added Spencer Jones who fits Yankee Stadium very well.

The Yankees have a solid farm system right now and only got better with their 2022 draft class.

8. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers only have four players in the Top 100 prospect list on FanGraphs but out of those four players, one is a catcher, one is a starter, another is an infielder and the other is an outfielder. Plus, we already got to see Ryan Pepiot in the Majors and he's been good.

9. Texas Rangers

After the Rangers added Kumar Rocker with the third overall, it was really surprising. But the thought of Rocker, Leiter and their other pick, Brock Porter, in the same rotation is just scary.

The Rangers currently have Josh Jung and Cole Winn coming up soon and have added Josh H. Smith and Ezequiel Duran into the MLB already. Those guys are maturing and ready to start making an impact.

10. Detroit Tigers

The Tigers added Jace Jung, the brother of Texas' Josh Jung. That was a solid pick-up. So far, Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson haven't lived up to expectations. Tork isn't even considered a prospect anymore, but since he was sent down, I'm going to consider him one again.

Anyway, there's still a ton of talent but production has lacked at the MLB level for some of these guys.

11. San Francisco Giants

The Giants only have three Top 100 prospects but all three are 31 or better in terms of ranking. None of those prospects are close to coming up, meaning the Giants are only going to improve their depth with the 2022 MLB Draft picks.

12. Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox have Triston Cases, Marcelo Mayer, Nick Yorke, and Brayan Bello. But after that, the depth kind of lacks. Josh Winckowski has at least produced a bit along with Connor Seabold.

13. St. Louis Cardinals

I thought that the Cardinals reached with their first three picks in the 2022 MLB Draft. But this farm system still has five players in the top 100 and that includes Matthew Liberatore, who should be a special player soon.

14. San Diego Padres

The Padres added a ton of good talent to their pitching staff in the 2022 MLB Draft. That makes sense knowing that their top six prospects are all bats. The Padres are now going to be much more well-rounded. That should help shape up their farm.

15. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs really didn't have much pitching in their farm going into the 2022 MLB Draft. So they went hard with pitching this year. We'll see if it works out. Still, the Cubs have five players in the Top 100 prospect list via FanGraphs and we should see Brennen Davis in the big leagues soon.

16. Minnesota Twins

Earlier in the draft, the Twins selected Brooks Lee and Connor Prielipp. I'm very high on both. But their farm system doesn't have much in A or AA, other than Austin Martin and Matt Canerino. The Twins need to start developing talent at the bottom of their farm system. Still, there's a ton of talent in AAA right now for this team.

17. New York Mets

The Mets have Francisco Alvarez, who is one of the best prospects in baseball. He's estimated to make his big league debut next year. The other top two prospects Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio are expected to make the Majors in 2023 as well.

Those are solid trading chips for a big-name bat...

18. Washington Nationals

The Nationals have five players in the Top 100 prospects list and will probably have more once Soto is traded. Don't forget, the Nationals drafted Elijah Green with their first selection and he also has the potential to make the list next season.

19. Colorado Rockies

The Rockies have very limited pitching depth in the farm system. The only top 10 pitching prospect in the Rockies organization is Victor Juarez.

20. Kansas City Royals

The Royals called up Vinnie Pasquantino and he's shown off some serious power. He's still considered a prospect along with Nick Pratto and Asa Lacy, who has a ton of potential. These guys will all be up in the Majors pretty soon. However, the depth probably lacks a bit.

21. Toronto Blue Jays

I loved the Brandon Barriera selection at 23rd overall. The Blue Jays also have Gabriel Moreno, who has tasted a little of MLB action this season.

But other than Moreno and Oorelvis Martinez, the Blue Jays lack higher-tier prospects. We'll see if this year's draft will change that.

22. Cincinnati Reds

I'm not sure if we consider Nick Lodolo a prospect anymore. But he's been solid for the Reds this season. Without him, the Reds are left with just two Top 100 prospects. However, I thought the Reds did very well in this year's draft, adding Cam Collier with the 18th pick of the draft. They also added so much college talent like Sal Stewart Logan Tanner, Justin Boyd, Bryce Hubbart, Kenya Huggins, Cade Hunter, Zach Maxwell, Trey Faltine, and Chris McElvain.

That was a sensational draft for the Reds. That draft will help them rise in the rankings in no time.

23. Seattle Mariners

No, Julio Rodriguez doesn't count anymore! The Mariners are left with two Top 100 prospects and don't have much talent in Triple-A. They're going to have to be patient but could develop plenty of their prospects. After drafting Cole Young with the first selection, the Mariners are building something special!

24. Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies added a ton of high school prospects in this year's draft. They'll wait on Mick Abel and Andrew Painter, who are both A+ prospects and the top prospects for the Phillies.

25. Oakland Athletics

The A's have Tyler Soderstorm and Shea Langeliers as their top two prospects. They've even added Nick Allen to the majors, but he hasn't been anything special. Hopefully, this year's draft will help them get in the right direction.

26. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers reached a lot in the 2022 MLB Draft and currently only have one player in the Top 100 prospects list on FanGraphs. Things aren't looking too good over there.

27. Houston Astros

I liked what the Astros did in the 2022 MLB Draft. But currently, the Astros only have Hunter Brown sitting in the Top 100 prospects. Their new talent like Drew Gilbert and Jacob Melton will absolutely help and both are college players that should see the field pretty soon.

28. Atlanta Braves

Their first selection of Owen Murphy was interesting. But they don't have a single Top 100 player in the minors. Spencer Strider and Michael Harris have been studs for the Braves but they're no longer prospects.

29. Los Angeles Angels

The 2022 MLB Draft was questionable and their entire depth in the minors is questionable. The Angels are not in a good place.

30. Chicago White Sox

The White Sox really needed to bolster up their depth, especially in the pitching department. They did that in the 2022 MLB Draft. We'll see if it all works out how they expect. Right now, the White Sox don't have a single player on the Top 100 list. Things are looking ugly for now.
