Heisman Watch: Matt Corral Jumps up To Top Spot

Entering his fourth year with Ole Miss, quarterback Matt Corral is beginning to jump off the page as a starter. He took a nice step up in 2020 but his game has found another level through three games in the college football season.

After his Week 3 performance, Corral now finds himself with the best odds to take home the Heisman Trophy.

Heisman Watch: Week 3 Performances

Matt Corral - Ole Miss QB

Week 3 stats: 23 of 35 passing, 335 yards, 3 Passing TD, 196.9 rating, 4 rushing TD

Matt Corral Heisman Odds

Ole Miss demoralized Tulane with a 61-21 win to improve to 3-0. In the process, Corral had the best start of his season so far. He finished the day with an extremely efficient 335 yards on 31 attempts.

Arguably the most impressive part of the day was his rushing. He ran for 68 yards and four touchdowns! Finishing the day with seven total scores, Corral’s Week 3 performance caught the eyes of the oddsmakers.

Bryce Young - Alabama QB

Week 3 stats: 22 of 35 passing, 240 yards, 3 Passing TD, 148.7 rating

Bryce Young Heisman Odds

Alabama won a tight SEC matchup against Florida this week 31-29. Bryce Young was fine, completing 62.9 percent of his passes for 240 yards but didn’t really have a game that jumped off the page.

Brian Robinson Jr. was much more efficient on the ground, averaging 5.2 yards per carry in the win. Young still finds himself in the top-two after a “down” Week 3 performance.

Desmond Ridder - Cincinnati QB

Week 3 stats: 20 of 36 passing, 210 yards, 1 Passing TD, 1 INT, 108.2 rating

Desmond Ridder Heisman Odds

We have our first surprise of the week. Desmond Ridder jumped up the rankings into the third spot at +1800 odds. His numbers weren’t great against Indiana, averaging just 5.8 yards per attempt passing and a turnover ao the leap is a tad on the surprising side.

This one could honestly just be a market adjustment after his first two weeks of the season that he had and the fact that Cincinnati is now 3-0.

Malik Willis - Liberty QB

Week 3 stats: 21 of 28 passing, 242 yards, 4 Passing TD, 194.7 rating, 2 rushing TD

Malik Willis Heisman Odds

Willis had the game of his life in the win over Old Dominion on Saturday. He threw for 242 yards on just 28 attempts, completed 75 percent of his passes, and had four passing touchdowns.

On the ground, he would add another 77 yards and two scores as Liberty went on to win 45-17 to improve to 3-0. Willis is another one who like Ridder jumped up the rankings this week as compared to after Week 2.

Spencer Rattler - Oklahoma QB

Week 3 stats: 24 of 34 passing, 214 yards, 1 Passing TD, 133.2 rating, 1 rushing TD

Spencer Rattler Heisman Odds

Sure, Oklahoma continues to win and is now 3-0 but has Rattler done anything to wow you this year? His stock in the Heisman race continues to fall as he drops from third to fifth after a pedestrian week.

Rattler had a promising showing in Week 2 but this past week didn’t move the needle at all for the oddsmakers. He’s one to keep a close eye on as the year progresses.
