New York Giants 2022 Quarterback Odds: Did the Giants Just Hint At Daniel Jones Returning?
New York Giants 2022 Quarterback Odds: Did the Giants Just Hint At Daniel Jones Returning?
Today was a big day for the New York Giants, as they introduced their new GM, Joe Schoen. Schoen, who makes his way over from Buffalo, will now be at the forefront of the head coaching hire which is expected to come soon.
In addition to choosing a new head coach, the first-time GM now has to decide what to do at quarterback. Do they keep Daniel Jones or move on? Well, his comments at the introductory press conference may have already hinted at the decision.
That certainly sounds like someone who wants to keep Daniel Jones at the quarterback position. Owner John Mara also spoke today and showed some support for Daniel saying "We’ve done everything possible to screw this kid up."
Could this be like in 2019 when the Cardinals said that Josh Rosen was their guy just to draft Kyler Murray a few months later? Maybe but signs do seem to point to the G-Men giving Jones one more kick at the can in 2022.
The question then becomes, are there odds on it? Well, while current odds aren't available SportsBetting.ag had the following at the Giants 2022 Week 1 QB Odds:
New York Giants 2022 Quarterback Odds
Name | Odds |
---|---|
QB via Trade | +150 |
Free Agent Signing | +175 |
Daniel Jones | +200 |
Jake Fromm | +300 |
Draft Pick | +500 |
I would imagine that +200 is far too low for Daniel Jones at this point. He seems like he would be the favorite with the possibility of a trade after that. DeShaun Watson was already ruled out today for the Giants but if someone like Russell Wilson becomes available, and the Giants having two top-10 picks, would that be an enticing fit? I'd think so.
While both Mara and Schoen strongly hinted that Jones would be the guy in 2022 there is no guarantee. We will have to monitor this one closely over the next few months with free agency in March and the draft in April, expect a ton of movement around the league.
