2022 NFL Draft Jermaine Johnson Draft Position Odds: How Early Will Johnson Go in Round 1?
Florida State edge rusher, Jermaine Johnson is a favorite in the draft community and for good reason. He was excellent at Florida State as a senior after transferring over from Georiga as he posted 11.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for a loss in 12 games.
When looking at where he might go in the NFL Draft, many are predicting that it will be a short wait for him on draft night. Here's where the oddsmakers believe that Jermaine Johnson will come off the board.

Jermaine Johnson Draft Position Odds
Draft Position | Odds | Implied Chance |
---|---|---|
Under 9.5 | -140 | 58.33% |
Over 9.5 | +110 | 47.62% |
Oddsmakers give Jermaine Johnson a 58.33% chance to come off the board in the first nine picks of the NFL Draft and honestly, that makes a ton of sense. In the top nine, you could make the case for Jacksonville, Detroit, Houston, the Jets, the Giants, Atlanta, and Seattle all taking a look at the edge rusher position.
I'm not saying all seven of those teams are taking an edge in the top nine but if three or four of them do, my guess is that Johnson is one of those guys. Seattle feels like his absolute floor unless they surprise people and select a quarterback ninth overall.
Not only was the production there in his final year at Florida State but he also tested extremely well at the combine.
The speed that he possesses in the 40-yard dash, the 20 split, and the 10 split is downright elite. One of the most important things that teams can do to stop opposing offenses is get after the quarterback. A guy like Johnson screaming off the edge is going to entice someone to select him very early in this 2022 NFL Draft class.

His play speed translates from his testing time, he has good technique and he very rarely stays blocked for long. He could use some work in the run game but you're not taking an edge top-10 in order to be a run defender, you're taking him to attack the passer which Jermaine Johnson does just that. It would be surprising to me to see him fall out of the top nine picks on draft night.
