MLB Parlay Picks Today: Targeting Shohei Ohtani in Friday's Two-Leg MLB Parlay

We have a beautiful 15-game Friday MLB slate and I am back with a parlay that I am loving for it. It consists of 2 legs, the first being a player prop and the 2nd being an alternate game prop. I have listed each leg of the parlay below, now let me break down why I love these two looks tonight.

MLB Parlay Picks Today: Friday, May 2nd

Leg 1: Shohei Ohtani to Record a Hit

The first leg of today's parlay is Shohei Ohtani to record a hit. This is a great spot for the Dodgers' superstar. With this being a road game, he should see 5+ plate appearances and he’s recorded a hit in 9 of the last 10 games with 5 or more plate appearances. He's on a 5-game hit streak and has a hit in 7 of the last 8 games. I also love his matchup vs Grant Holmes who throws primarily 4-seam fastballs, curveballs, and sliders to lefties, which sets up nicely for Shohei. Here’s his numbers vs those pitches (against righties - 2024 AVG | 2025 AVG):

  • vs. 4-Seam: .294 AVG | .292 AVG
  • vs. Curveball: .476 AVG | .200 AVG
  • vs. Slider: .323 AVG | .333 AVG

As you can see, Shohei is great vs. the pitch mix he'll see tonight, so I think he has no issues recording a hit for our parlay.

Leg 2: Toronto Blue Jays First 5 Innings Spread +1.5

The last leg of the parlay is Toronto Blue Jays First 5 Innings Spread +1.5. I love this leg for a few reasons. For one, its a great spot against Logan Allen and the Guardians. The Blue Jays rank 5th in the MLB in wRC+ vs lefties, and at Home that number improves from 122 wRC+ to 151 wRC+ which is absurd. Toronto is also tied for 3rd in the MLB in walk rate vs lefties and Logan Allen has struggled with walks the past two seasons. This season thus far, he ranks in the 26th percentile in walk rate.

The Guardians on the other hand will see Chris Bassitt. Cleveland is very average (15th) in wRC+ vs righties. I like backing Bassitt at home, as his home vs. road splits are among the most drastic in baseball. This season he has a 0.82 Home ERA (3.47 Road ERA) and he's always tended to pitch better at the Rogers Centre. I'm expecting Toronto to keep it within the F5 spread +1.5 and help us cash today's parlay!
