The Red Sox play in San Francisco on Friday, and while all eyes will be on Devers, his teammate Hayden Birdsong is in a good spot to excel against the Sox lineup.

The headline in the Red Sox-Giants game will be Rafael Devers facing his former team after Boston traded him to San Francisco on Sunday. Since trading Devers, the Red Sox offense scored five runs in three games against the Mariners, but were able to win two of three despite a 29.9% strikeout rate in the series..
Boston’s offense has been struggling recently. Over the last 14 days, Boston is last with a 28.3% strikeout rate against right-handers and bottom five in chase rate and whiff rate. For the season, the Red Sox have the sixth-highest chase rate at 29.6% and are third-worst in strikeout rate against righties at 24.3%.
Birdsong started the season in the bullpen before entering the starting rotation on May 20th. The pitch count has increased each time out with 80, 88, 88, 93 and 104 pitches. The right-hander has at least five strikeouts in the last four starts and hit six twice. He is in the 78th percentile of whiff rate.

Lowe has gone over this line in 11 of the last 14 games. He has an eight-game hitting streak and is home at George M. Steinbrenner Field with temperature in the mid-80s in a great environment for hitters. Lowe is in the 87th percentile of average exit velocity and 77th percentile of barrel percentage.
Since May 1st, Lowe is batting .301 with 11 home runs, 26 RBIs and a .937 OPS. Lowe has hit 11 of his 15 home runs at home.
