Boise State Is a Different Team with Maddux Madsen
The biggest factor in this handicap is the health and availability of quarterback Maddux Madsen. Boise’s offense clearly missed him down the stretch, sputtering early in games against Fresno State and San Diego State while trying to survive without its field general. That all changed last week in the Mountain West Championship. With Madsen back under center, the Broncos looked like themselves again. The offense pushed tempo, attacked vertically, and finished drives. He threw for nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns, and there’s no reason to believe Boise suddenly shelves him in a bowl game where he can return next season fully healthy. That matters because Washington’s offense is far more volatile than the spread implies. Boise doesn’t need to win this game outright — it just needs to function offensively, and with Madsen, that floor is much higher.
Washington’s Season Has Been Uneven — and the Lows Are Concerning
