New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can the Jets Defense Slow Down Josh Allen?

The AFC East will feature a divisional matchup in Western New York when the Buffalo Bills host the New York Jets during Sunday's late afternoon slate in Week 11.

Both the Jets and Bills find themselves in a rut, each losing two consecutive games entering this Week 11 matchup. The Bills opted to fire OC Ken Dorsey, leaving Josh Allen without his primary play caller in an offense that was already looking inconsistent and untrustworthy. Speaking of an untrustworthy offense, Zach Wilson has been unable to get the Jets into prime scoring position. New York is among the worst teams in red zone scoring this season, settling for field goals and hoping its top-five defense can shut down opponents to stay competitive in the second half of games.

Week 1 gave us a bunch of highlights despite a low-scoring 22-16 win for the Jets at MetLife Stadium. Xavier Gipson returned a punt in overtime to seal the win for New York, capitalizing on Josh Allen's four turnovers. Allen is playing through a shoulder injury and a ton of mental adversity, but his turnovers continue to hamper the Bills' offense in one-score games.

NFL handicapper Matt MacKay is here to share his latest prediction and pick for Jets vs. Bills.

NEW YORK JETS VS. BUFFALO BILLS PREDICTION

Both teams are extremely shallow due to injuries entering Week 11. The Jets' offensive line is about as porous as it gets, which makes a one-dimensional offense that cannot finish in the red zone even more of a liability to bet on. However, Buffalo's defense is equally decimated, missing key cogs in its linebacking corps and secondary.

The Bills are 5-5 but have only won one game in the AFC East, while the Jets are 4-5 and 1-1 within the division. Week 11 is a huge matchup for both teams to end their losing slumps, while improving their stock within the AFC East title race. Buffalo has not covered a spread successfully in six straight games and it's tough to imagine they will offer any significantly different plays on offense under interim OC Joe Brady.

The Jets' pass defense is elite. New York has held five of its past six opponents under 200 passing yards. However, its run defense is a liability, allowing 148 - 203 rushing yards against the Giants and Raiders in two of its past three games. Oddly enough, the Jets went two consecutive games without forcing a turnover, until they recorded two in an ugly 16-12 road loss to Las Vegas in Week 10.

Josh Allen's turnover struggles are well-documented this season. Allen has thrown at least one interception in eight of ten games played this season, including three against the Jets back in Week 1. He threw two more interceptions against Denver at home last week, but the Bills' franchise quarterback counters these mistakes with rushing touchdowns. New York is going to focus on containing Stefon Diggs, Dalton Kincaid, and Gabe Davis in the passing attack, which opens up a lot of opportunity for Buffalo to dial up a run-centric game plan with Allen, James Cook, and Latavius Murray.

Allen has handled four to eight carries in four consecutive games, scoring a rushing touchdown in seven of his last eight games played. Based on the matchup, plus Allen's turnover tendencies in the passing attack, expect a lot of run game deployed by the Bills in Week 11. Allen has been consistent finding the end zone with his legs lately, which he didn't do against the Jets back in Week 1, so let's stake a unit on him to score his fifth straight rushing touchdown at +155 odds at home in a must-win game on Sunday afternoon at Highmark Stadium.
