Novak Djokovic vs. Jannik Sinner Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest Odds for Wimbledon Semifinal

Novak Djokovic has battled his way back to another Wimbledon semifinal, telling Father Time to wait his turn. Can he stun young superstar and No. 1 player in the world, Jannik Sinner, on Friday in the second semi? Matt MacKay analyzes this Djokovic vs. Sinner showdown with the Wimbledon Final on the line.

Novak Djokovic vs. Jannik Sinner Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest Odds for Wimbledon Semifinal

Two of tennis' top stars, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner, will compete in one of two Wimbledon Men's Singles Semifinal Draw matches on Friday morning. It's their second head-to-head match in a month, following Sinner's 3-0 set sweep of the 38-year-old Serbian during the French Open Semifinal at Roland Garros.

Oddsmakers have the top-seeded player in this tournament, Jannik Sinner, valued as a -200 betting favorite in moneyline markets. Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, will seek to avenge his loss in Paris a few weeks ago by eliminating the 23-year-old Italian super star. He's currently +180 to pull off the upset over Sinner.

Novak Djokovic vs. Jannik Sinner Prediction

Carlos Alcaraz may be the outright betting favorite to win his third straight Wimbledon Championship on Sunday. However, all eyes are on this highly anticipated rematch between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner during Friday's Semifinal.

After winning four consecutive titles at Wimbledon from 2018-2022, Djokovic lost twice in a row to Alcaraz in the Championship. He's qualified for the Wimbledon Championship in six straight appearances, so there's certainly value on the veteran to upset Sinner at +188 in moneyline betting markets.

Sinner's elbow injury lengthened his odds as a favorite against No. 10 Ben Shelton in the Quarterfinals. It wound up being overblown, as the Italian disposed of Shelton in three straight sets, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.

All of the pressure in this Semifinal match is on Sinner, who is seeking his first Wimbledon Championship. If he advances, he'll likely face Alcaraz, who pulled off a historic comeback in Paris to beat Sinner during their record-setting French Open Final.

Djokovic won't go quietly on the grass courts. He's proven that his skillset translates best to Wimbledon's slick surfaces, while also holding an advantage without any prominent injury like the one Sinner is playing through.

Sinner has won four straight head-to-head matches against Djokovic dating back to 2023. All of those wins were either on clay court or hard court, plus, he's won five consecutive sets in the previous two events played.

Compared to Alcaraz' -530 moneyline odds against No. 5 Taylor Fritz, Sinner's -220 moneyline odds are much more appealing, although still heavily juiced. It's going to be a difficult assignment to beat Djokovic on grass, especially with speculation that this could be the Serbian's final outing at Wimbledon.

Instead of laying the juice on Sinner or backing Djokovic for the outright upset, it's worth checking out the game spread betting market. Oddsmakers are currently laying -3.5 games with Sinner, who covered this number against Djokovic at the French Open last month. He won by five total games, which was actually one game short of his -5.5 line.

I'm not so sure Sinner's elite serve speed and play at the net will hold up against the crafty and athletic Djokovic this time around. It's going to be a match that goes at least four rounds, with the potential for five rounds, which makes betting over 39.5 total games appealing at -110 odds.

Djokovic has won 79 percent of 1st serve points during this tournament, while Sinner has won 82 percent of 1st serve points. The 38-year-old Serbian has 60 aces compared to Sinner's 42, while also holding a moderate edge in 1st serves in and return games won.

Djokovic should not be underestimated on grass courts, even against an elite ball speed player like Sinner, who has had the veteran's number in recent matches. His confidence will be soaring, tapping into seven previous Wimbledon Championship victories. Plus, Djokovic has advanced to the Championship in six consecutive attempts.

While he may wind up falling short, I expect a dogfight between these two in Friday's Semifinal. Let's bet one unit on Djokovic to cover +3.5 at plus odds.
