Centigrade showed plenty of promise as a juvenile against some smart individuals and returned from a lengthy absence to win at Southwell in June. Ralph Beckett's colt has the potential to be better than his opening mark of 102, but whether he is streetwise enough against experienced handicappers is a concern. Mezcala has won two valuable prizes this season, including the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot, but a wide draw tempers enthusiasm and the vote goes to last year's winner BULLET POINT. He took a step in the right direction when runner-up at the Shergar Cup earlier this month and that may have set him up for a repeat success off 1lb higher.
