Nebraska Next Head Coach Odds: Matt Campbell Favored to Take Over Nebraska
Nebraska Next Head Coach Odds: Matt Campbell Favored to Take Over Nebraska
Nebraska pulling the plug on Scott Frost was just something that had to be done. In four years and three games at Nebraska, he finished just 16-31 and never won more than five games in a season.
This year in particular was rough as he started an unimpressive 1-2 to the season. In Week 0, they lost to Northwestern in a game that they were favored in. Then, they barely squeaked by North Dakota the following as they entered the fourth quarter tied at 17 before scoring 21 unanswered. Finally, they lost to Georgia Southern in a shootout 45-42.
That was the final straw for Nebraska and they decided to move on. So who will the replacement be for Nebraska? Here's a look at the Nebraska next head coach odds. Keep in mind these are for "long-term" replacements, not interim choices to finish the season.

Matt Campbell +400 (Bet $100 to win $400)
Matt Campbell is currently the head coach at Iowa State in 2022 where he's been since 2016. He turned that program around quickly as he started 3-9 in his first year before leading them to a record over .500 every year since.
Last year, Iowa State went 7-6 and lost to the Clemson Tigers in the Cheez-It Bowl. Campbell is 44-34 at Iowa State and was 35-15 at Toledo before that. He is one of the best coaches in the country and has turned two programs around. This would be a great add for Nebraska.
Mickey Joseph +450 (Bet $100 to win $450)
Mickey Joseph is currently the interim head coach at Nebraska now and he is given an 18.18% chance of remaining in that role. Originally, he was brought in to be a passing game coordinator and wide receiver coach at Nebraska before Scott Frost was let go.
Previously to that, he served as LSU's wide receiver coach and assistant head coach from 2017 through 2021. Obviously, LSU has produced a ton of quality receivers in recent years so at a minimum we can say that Mickey Joseph is good at developing offensive talent.
