One of the things taking the league by storm is Kyler Murray's situation. In typical 2022 fashion, the drama stems from social media. He apparently wiped any reference to the Cardinals from his social media profiles in protest.
There were of course rumors about Kyler being a bad teammate, not really caring so much, and anything else one could imagine. Today, Kyler's agent released a statement about the young quarterback's situation.
It's a lot to read and the font size is painfully small but to summize it, Kyler Murray is proud of the quick turnaround of the Cardinals but wants a long-term contract. Normally, after three years a team can either elect to utilize the fifth-year option on their former first round rookie or extend them.
Josh Allen got his contract extension last year, while Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson had to wait. Nowadays we see AAV's reach upwards of $40 million so it is a major investment for these teams and a massive upgrade in pay to the players.
Naturally, the odds would be impacted by this pretty declarative statement by Kyler Murray's agent. Here's what the odds say about Arizona's QB situation for 2022.

Just over a week ago, Kyler was at -1400 to be the team's quarterback in 2022. That implies a 93.3 percent chance of return while the field was +700 (12.5 percent). We've seen a massive shift in just a couple of weeks.
Still, -500 is still a really good chance of Kyler returning to the Cardinals it is absolutely shifting. For example, Daniel Jones has the exact same odds to be the Giants quarterback next year at -500. If you told me that was going to be the case even just a couple of weeks ago I would've never believed it.
We'll see if the Cardinals pony up and pay their guy but there might be something here with this Kyler turmoil.
