EXCELLENT BELIEVE can register a deserved first success since joining trainer Stephen Thorne. Unlucky in running at Leopardstown and over this track and trip, the gelding was well fancied for the Balmoral at Ascot on British Champions Day. Drawn on what turned out to be the wrong side of the track, the four-year-old easily 'won' his race on the far side but could only finish mid-division overall. A maiden winner over 6f here, Valentino Eclipse could prove well suited by stepping back up in trip. Unique Journey is also worthy of serious consideration, despite having yet to win over this distance.
