Colgate vs. Cornell Preview

Like we mentioned earlier, despite the fact that Cornell has not yet won a game this year, the Colgate vs. Cornell odds favor them on Friday against their rivals. This is just the second home game on the year for Cornell. They come into Friday after a three-game road trip that saw them go winless.

Two different QBS have taken snaps for Cornell this season. Ben Mays has come on in relief of fifth-year QB Richie Kenney, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see both of the quarterbacks come Friday night.

The Big Red has relied almost entirely on their passing game this season. Leading rusher SK Howard has run the ball just 29 times in four games and averages 28.75 yards per game.

As for Colgate, they also run a multiple-QB system, but there’s has been by design rather than necessity.

Senior Grant Breneman, sophomore Harry Kirk and freshman Michael Brescia have all seen extended time under center this season. No part of the Colgate passing attack has been impressive, but their run game certainly has been.

Breneman leads the team in rushing, followed by running back John Cox. If Colgate is going to upset Cornell, it’s going to have to be thanks to the rushing attack, not their abilities in the passing game.

Colgate vs. Cornell Odds

Colgate vs. Cornell odds are a little bit tougher to find than some of the blue-blood program odds, seeing as it’s an FCS matchup, but every single sportsbook that has odds available is favoring Cornell to win.

Despite the fact that they come into Friday’s game without a win on the season, their best odds currently sit at -154, implying a 60.6% chance they win on Friday night.

For Colgate, their bets Colgate vs. Cornell odds are just slightly worse. A few hours before kickoff, they sit at +140 to win one of the oldest rivalries in the country and take a lead in the all-time series. At +140, their implied probability is 41.7%.
