Texas is given EVEN odds, or an implied 50% chance to land Arch Manning. A massive change from their +250 odds at the end of March. However, Georgia has also seen their odds improve from +200 to +150. That’s a change from a 33.3% chance to land Manning to a 40% chance. Yet, it’s still Texas who now sits as the favorite in the race.
Alabama has seen a massive fall off. Oddsmakers moved the SEC powerhouse from +350 to +2000. That’s a change from a 22.2% chance to land Manning to a 4.8% chance. Ole Miss has had a similarly steep fall-off going from +500 to +10000, or a change from a 16.7% chance to a 1% chance.
Meanwhile, LSU and Florida, who were given +2000 and +3000 odds respectively, have fallen off the market completely.
The surge for Texas over Georgia is a surprise. With Texas landing coveted transfer Quinn Ewers it’s likely that Manning would have massive competition from one of the top QB prospects in the country. That wouldn’t be the case at Georgia where they’ve struggled to solidify their QB position but won anyway. One would think Manning would take the easiest route to a starting position with an elite program. Instead, oddsmakers believe he’ll take his talents to Austin where he’ll have stiffer competition and the program has struggled mightily in recent years.
