Favourites don't have the best recent record in this contest, but Castle Cove defied that stat when bolting up in last year's renewal. He attempts to repeat the dose off 8lb higher on his belated return to action, but NOBODY KNOWS makes greater appeal. Richard Hughes' colt landed a couple of novice events before emerging with credit from handicaps at Sandown and York. He did well to finish fifth on the Knavesmire having been caught further back than ideal, and he gave the strong impression that stepping up to 1m4f will elicit even more improvement. Alfred Wincham impressed at the same venue last month and a rise in grade coupled with a 13lb hike might not stop him from going close. Others to note include Atherstone Warrior, Lord Melbourne and Solarize.
